My views on having the representation of my community , nation and continental knowledge on artificial intelligence digital platforms such as ChATGPT.

To begin with, I strongly believe that there is a need for my community (Aawambo), my nation (Namibia) and African indigenous knowledge to be available on artificial intelligence (AI)  digital platforms. Firstly, it will be accessible to the new generation to come in order to use this knowledge to build on and help develop our community, nation and our continent at large.

In addition, AI can analyze limitless amounts of data to understand individual community members’ liking and curiosity (social pinpoint, 2024). With this information, AI-powered platforms can deliver specific community knowledge content, making sure that it is available for the generation to come to understand their roots, history and community better.

Moreover, the existence of the community, nation and continental knowledge on AI platforms will make research easy. With the explicit knowledge attained from the senior citizens’ tacit knowledge and history books made available on the AI platforms research will be made easier. To expand on that, there will be no need to use huge amount of time and money to collect data when doing research on a specific aspect of the community, especially population growth, data on population growth over the years for our country will be readily accessible and analyzed for researchers.

On the other hand, knowledge management is reflected as the fourth factor of production aspect after  labor, land and capital (Prof. Kingo Mchombu -2024). Knowledge on attitudes, collective experiences on climate change and established agricultural skills for a community, nation and continent, empower an individual or community to improve on food security. So it will be of vital importance to have these knowledge on AI platforms.

All-in-all, I strongly believe that although the ownership of the AI platform does not lie in the hands of my community, nation and continental authority, this does not  outweigh the benefits the platform brings having our indigenous knowledge digitalized, readily accessible for social good and drive positive change in our communities. This will also help the investors understand our national , needs etc for the economic growth of our nations and continent at large. In addition , next generations will be able to build on the digitalised knowledge and build on it in order to develop our communities.

In conclusion, Africans to be specific have traditional ways of treating diseases and varieties of sickness. If tacit knowledge from traditional healers on how treat different conditions is collected and digitalized , it will make it easier and cheaper to treat people. And it will also help the pharmaceutical industry to get clues on creating medicinal drugs by using the herbs out indigenous use to use.
